Default Bing to Power Internet Searches for Facebook, Site also Gets Control of Display Ads

Official announcements by Microsoft on Friday confirmed that Bing, the recently launched search engine of the company, would nowpower Internet searches for Facebook. With the move, the popular social networking website's user base of over 400 million members would carry out all query searches with Bing as the default engine, and with this arrangement, the control of display advertising has come back to the networking website.

Previously, Bing had powered online searches for Facebook's US pages.

As has been confirmed by the tech firm, Microsoft would be providing Facebook users with complete access to all Bing features as a part of an "expanded cooperation in search".

"You will start to see the fruits of our expanded relationship show up in the Facebook experience over the weeks and months ahead", wrote Bing General Manager Jon Tinter in an official blog post.

Also, both Microsoft and Facebook have agreed that the networking site will be taking over the selling of display ads posted at the website as it "just made more sense" given the unique nature of thesocial networking site.
